City gas and the environment

1. Prevention of global warming

Through the city gas business, we shall strive to reduce CO₂ emissions from business activities while promoting the use of city gas, which we produce mostly from environment-friendly natural gas, and the use of highly efficient gas appliances and systems, thus helping our customers reduce CO₂ emissions from the use of energy.


2. Establishing a sound material-cycle society and conserving the regional environment

To help build a recycling-based society, we aim to raise the efficiency of using resources by promoting the 3Rs (reduction, reuse and recycling) and green purchasing. For conserving the regional environment, we shall more strictly control the reduction of environmental impacts on the atmosphere and water through emissions and effluents, as well as control chemical substances.


3. Promotion of environmental communication

We shall promote a wide range of environmental communication activities such as the following: distribution of environment-related information; participation in environmental activities in collaboration with administrators, local communities, etc.; promotion of natural environment conservation activities; and participation in global environment conservation activities through the international exchange of environment-related information and technical assistance on the environment.


4. Reinforcing the environment management and nurturing environmental awareness among employees

We shall reinforce environmental management and nurture environmental awareness among employees, etc.


5. Enhancing the development of environmental technology

We shall promote the research and development of environmental technology related to the city gas business, while striving to make progress in environmental conservation through more extensive use of such technology.
