Relationship with the Local Community

As corporate citizens, city gas utilities are keen to maintain contact with customers and contribute to the development of local communities. Culture classes, cooking lessons and environmental events are typical examples of their efforts to strengthen local ties. Community links are also forged by sponsoring charity concerts, hosting field trips by students and giving lectures at schools.

In cooperation with the Information Center for Energy and Environment Education, the Japan Gas Association conducts seminars and produces educational materials (supplementary readers and videos) about natural gas for children. Teachers can use these materials in メComprehensive Learning Hoursモ and similar extra-curricular programs.

Gas Pavilion for Expo 2005 Aichi

During the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Japan, known in short as Expo 2005 Aichi, the Japan Gas Association participated in the event and made a presentation in the Gas Pavilion under the concept メFire Magic Theaterモ with the cooperation of city gas utilities around the country, An estimated 2.47 million visitors toured the pavilion.
The main show began with flames produced using natural gas, followed by a magic show that combined special effects, images, music and live performers, entertaining and filling spectators with a sense of wonder. While enjoying this show and other attractions in the pavilion, visitors became familiar with the soothing power, pleasure, and mystery that flames can afford, as well as the importance of energy.

The exhibition hall introduced a wide variety of technologies which use gas energy, such as the production of methane hydrate, residential fuel cells, and gas cooling, and information about gas energy as well. Our exhibition demonstrated the versatility and possibilities of natural gas, a form of clean energy that is both human- and Earth-friendly, and which is expected to prevail globally.
