HOME / Why is biodiversity important?
As symbolized by the ecological pyramid in the right-hand chart, all organisms live while mutually supporting other organisms. If a type of insect significantly decreases in number, organisms that feed on the insect also decrease. Such effects upset the balance of biodiversity, ultimately leading to a crisis of the entire ecology of the region. For all organisms including humans to continue to live safely in the future, it is very important to protect biodiversity globally.
