	We investigate environmental conservation efforts at the source of procurement of LNG, a city gas material. During transport by a company-owned tanker, the ballast water* of the tanker is exchanged over international waters, aiming to reduce the effects on the ecosystem. * Seawater used as a weight to maintain the balance of the cargo ship; it is often discharged at a port different from the port where it was collected, so the effect of organisms contained in the water on the ecosystem is a problem.

	Each terminal that receives LNG is working for greening inside the site. They also work to create green space with consideration on the regional natural environment, including the protection of rare species in the region and the formation of a green network with the surroundings of the terminals.

	When we excavate a road for burying gas pipes, excavated soil is generated. We aim to reduce the amount of excavated soil by adopting “shallow burial” and the “trenchless method” and also to reduce the use of soil and sand (pit sand) for back filling by direct backfill using excavated soil (generated soil filling), and increased use of improved soil and recycled base course materials. Through such effects, we aim to reduce the effects of pit sand mining and excavated soil dumping on the ecosystem.
